Vanmorgen kreeg ik een berichtje van Linda B's Blog, die me vertelde dat mijn Little Hearts Garland XL een van haar 'top Etsy finds' is. Ik voel me helemaal vereerd! The result

Al een tijdje was ik op zoek naar een mooi patroon van een bloemetje. Tijdens de verhuizing heb ik mijn favoriete boek '100 bloemen om te haken en te breien' onderin een verhuisdoos gestopt, en nu mijn boeken nog ingepakt staan kan ik er niet bij. Dus ik heb het internet afgezocht naar een mooi patroon en hier is er eentje (update: het patroon is helaas niet meer beschikbaar). I was searching for a pattern of a flower for quiet some time. During the moving house I'd put my favourite book '100 flowers to knit and crochet' on the bottom of a box, and now that my books are still packed I cannot get it. So I've searched the internet for some nice patterns and here is one of them (update: het patroon is helaas niet meer beschikbaar). The hospital

Nadat ik zaterdag over een karretje was gestruikeld besloot ik vandaag naar het ziekenhuis te gaan want de pijn bleef maar aanhouden en ik voelde me behoorlijk waardeloos. Drie uur later kreeg ik het antwoord wat ik eigenlijk intuitief allang wist. Een van mijn ribben is gebroken. Ik heb pijnstillers gekregen die doen wat ze moeten doen dus het leven is helemaal niet zo slecht op dit moment, ook al had ik natuurlijk liever niks gebroken. Ik probeer het nu rustig aan te doen en... te haken! Dat doet geen pijn en is ontspannend dus over een paar weekjes ben ik vast weer helemaal de oude.

After tripping over a trolley on Saturday I decided to go to the hospital today because the pain didn't stop and I felt quiet terrible. Three hours later I got the answer that I already knew by intuition. One of the bones in my chest is broken. I have some painkillers that do what they should do so life isn't too bad although I would have prefered not to break anything at all ofcourse. So now I'm just trying to take it easy and do some... crochet! That doesn't hurt and is relaxing so I should be fine in a couple of weeks from now.

Ornament Garland

De laatste tijd ben ik alleen maar bezig met het maken van Garlands. Ik vind het erg leuk om te doen en in huis hangen ze zo gezellig aan de muur. Deze garland heb ik van de week gemaakt en ik heb hem de Ornament Garland genoemd. Hij staat ook in mijn Etsy-shop tussen een heleboel nieuwe Garlands.
Voor wie zich afvraagt hoe het er voor staat met mijn verhuizing: dat is nu klaar! Gelukkig maar, vooral omdat ik gisteren tijdens het sjouwen van een kast over een karretje struikelde en nogal hard op de leuning van mijn eigen tuinbankje terecht kwam. Ik zit dus nu met een paar pijnlijke ribben achter mijn laptop. Het doet zelf pijn als ik ademhaal )-: Dus, ik ben blij dat ik vandaag niks meer hoef te sjouwen. Lekker een dagje haken in het verschiet dus! Iedereen een hele fijne zondag gewenst.

Lately I've only been busy with making Garlands. I really love making them and they look so cosy on the wall in my house. I've made this garland last week and I've named it the Ornament Garland. It is also in my Etsy-shop inbetween a lot of new Garlands.
For those of you who are wondering how the moving-house part is going: it is done now! I'm glad it is because yesterday, when I was carrying a cabinet, I tripped over a trolley and I fell really hard on the arm rest of my own garden bench. So I'm behind my laptop with a really painfull chest right now. It even hurts when I'm breathing )-: So I'm really glad I don't have to carry things around today. A lovely day full of crochet ahead! Pippablue

Toen ik mijn Shamrock Garland aan het maken was kwam ik er achter dat dat niet een klavertje vier is, maar een symbool van Ierland wat heel erg lijkt op het klavertje vier. Door een beetje te googelen kwam ik ineens in de winkel van Pippablue terecht. Pippablue heeft een winkeltje in Galway (Ierland) maar ook een hele leuke online shop die qua producten een beetje doet denken aan de Nederlandse webshop Psikhouvanjou. De laatste avond van het jaar alweer! Ik heb het net even opgezocht maar mijn eerste blogbericht schreef ik bijna een jaar geleden, op 2 januari 2010. Ik kijk terug op een heel erg fijn jaar waarin ik enorm geinspireerd ben door alle blogs van andere mensen waar ik zoveel mooie dingen op heb gezien. Ontzettend bedankt daarvoor!
Ik wens iedereen voor het nieuwe jaar een enorme berg creativiteit toe en ik hoop dat iedereen een fijn 2011 tegemoet gaat. Geniet van deze laatste avond in 2010!

The last night of the year already! I've looked it up and I wrote my first blog post almost a year ago, on the 2nd of January 2010. I'm looking back at a very nice year in which I've been tremendously inspired by all blogs of other people on which I've seen so many gorgeous things. Thank you all!

Hearts Swap

Op deze blog (update: de blog bestaat helaas niet meer) kwam ik een ontzettend leuke swap tegen: een Hartjes Swap! Ik heb me al opgegeven. Je kunt je tot 1 januari a.s. opgeven. Op 3 januari hoor je voor wie jij een hartje moet maken. Rond 1 maart moet je hartje bij jouw swap-partner zijn. Op 5 maart is het de bedoeling dat iedereen er iets over op zijn blog schrijft. Ik vind het een ontzettend leuk idee. Wie doet er nog meer mee? Je mag het hartje maken zoals je zelf wilt. Het mag gehaakt, gebreid, vilt, geborduurd... wat je maar leuk vindt, er moet alleen wel een lusje aan zitten om hem op te hangen.
Let op: je kunt je niet op mijn blog opgeven! De swap is namelijk van Scrappatch.

On this blog (update: the blog no longer exists) I found an incredibly nice swap: the Hearts Swap! I've already signed in. You can sign in until January 1st. On January 3rd you'll hear for who you'll have to make a heart. On March 1st your swap-partner must have received the heart. On the 5th of March everyone has to write about this on their blog. I really love the idea. Who else is going to join? You can make the heart the way you want it. It can be crochet, knitting, felting, embroidery... whatever you like, as long as there is a loop attached to it so you can hang it.

Ik hoop dat jullie allemaal een geweldige Kerst hebben. Ik heb geprobeerd iedereen van elke blog te bezoeken die hier geweest is het afgelopen jaar om iedereen persoonlijk een fijne Kerst te wensen maar dat bleek een beetje een te grote klus (-: Dus bij deze voor iedereen die ik nog niet 'persoonlijk' een fijne Kerst heb gewenst: vrolijk Kerstfeest!

Crochet Mice

Gisteravond laat verkocht ik mijn eerste item in mijn Etsy-shop. En dat ook nog aan een van mijn Blog-volgers! Wat ontzettend lief! Ik heb het pakje vandaag gepost en ik hoop dat ze er blij mee zal zijn. Verder was ik vanmorgen heel erg verrast toen ik zag dat Johnnie van Saved By Love Creations mij en mijn Etsy-shop op haar blog heeft genoemd. Allereerst wil ik alle mensen bedanken die zo'n ontzettend lieve reactie onder mijn vorige post hebben gezet! Ik was echt zo blij verrast toen ik al die lieve woorden als. Heel erg bedankt allemaal!

Zoals het plaatje al zegt gaat dit bericht over Etsy! Zit jij op Etsy? Ik nog maar net en ik probeer uit te vogelen hoe je mensen naar je Etsy-shop kunt krijgen. De grote vraag is dus... hoe doe je dat? Laat het me weten, want ik ben heel benieuwd!

My house

The 'I Love My House'-garland (-: You can find it in my Etsy-shop

Twee jaar geleden kocht ik mijn huisje. Het is gebouwd in 1865 en het is het fijnste huis wat ik ooit gehad heb. Het staat midden in de binnenstad maar het is een oase van rust. In dit huis leerde ik breien. En toen haken. En toen begon ik met bloggen, Flickr en Etsy. En ondertussen kwamen mijn vriendje (die zijn eigen huis heeft) en ik steeds vaker samen hier. Ons leven veranderde en we begonnen zo te wennen aan Delft dat we graag samen hier wilden wonen. Maar jammer genoeg is mijn huisje te klein. Daarom is het nu verkocht. Opeens gaat alles zo snel. Vanmorgen hoorde ik dat mijn huisje voor het einde van het jaar leeg moet zijn. En ook al ben ik heel blij met de nieuwe periode die we samen tegemoet gaan, het zal toch ook gek zijn om deze deur achter me dicht te trekken. Ons nieuwe huis staat gelukkig ook in Delft, maar dat is nog niet van ons. Er komt dus nog een spannende tijd aan. Maar eerst... spulletjes pakken en afscheid nemen van dit huis. Snif...

Two years ago I bought my house. It's build in 1865 and it's the nicest house I ever had. It is in the middle of town centre, but it's amazingly quiet here. In this house I learnt how to knit. And then crochet. And then I started with blogging, Flickr and Etsy. And in the meantime my boyfriend (who has his own house) and I were more and more often in this house. Our lives changed and we started to get so very used to Delft that we wanted to live here together. But unfortunately my house is too small. So that's why it is sold now. All of a sudden everything happens so quickly. This morning I heard that my house has to be empty before the end of this year. And although I am really happy with the fact that we will start a new period together, it will be very strange to close this door behind me. I am very glad that our new house is also situated in Delft, but that's not ours yet. So, a very exciting time is coming up. But first... I'll have to pack my stuff and say goodbye to this house. Sniff..

Gift Tags

Dit weekend heb ik een paar handschoenen afgemaakt. Ze zijn op bestelling gemaakt voor een vriendinnetje van mijn nichtje, en bij een bestelling hoort natuurlijk een 'gift tag'. Nu vond ik onlangs een hele mooie stempel van een hartje. Dat past natuurlijk heel erg goed bij het logo van mijn blog, dus ik bestelde er meteen een. Ook op zoek naar een mooie stempel? This weekend I finished a pair of mittens. They were ordered by a friend of my niece, and I think every order has to go with a gift tag attached to it. Ik hoop dat jullie de Blog Hop leuk vonden! Ik denk het wel want er waren gisteren een heleboel deelnemers. Bedankt iedereen voor het meedoen en bij deze wil ik ook meteen mijn nieuwe volgers welkom heten.

Christmas - Kerst

Ben jij aan het haken voor de Kerst? Ik kom er helaas niet aan toe want ik ben een beetje te druk met andere dingen. Maar ik had gelukkig wel de tijd om wat mooie dingen te zoeken op andere sites. Kijk maar eens op deze blog van Color Chic. Er staan een paar hele mooie kerstballen op met een link naar het (Engelse) patroon. Liever kerststerren of kerstboompjes haken? Kijk dan op de blog van Royal Sisters. En als laatste hier een paar patronen van hele mooi kerstversieringen. Wil je nog ergens anders inspiratie opdoen? Ik ben voor mijn moeder een pakketje aan het maken met leuke kadootjes voor de Kerst. Een van de dingen die er in gaat is dit gehaakte kerstengeltje. Het patroon was best moeilijk, dus de onderkant is mijn eigen ontwerp want ik kwam er echt niet uit. Voor wie een poging wil wagen, hier vind je het patroon.

I am making a package for my mother with nice Christmas presents. One of the things that will be in the package is this crochet Christmas Angel. The pattern was quite difficult, so the lower part is my own design because I really didn't get it right. For who wants to try, you can find the pattern here (only available in Dutch). Dit weekend haakte ik dit muisje. Ik haakte de muis met een haaknaald 4mm en Drops Paris katoen. Voor de ogen gebruikte ik 6mm veiligheidsoogjes. Het patroon vind je hieronder. Veel plezier!

This weekend I made a mouse. I made the mouse with a crochet hook size 4mm and Drops Paris cotton. For the eyes I used 6mm safety eyes. The English pattern is below the Dutch pattern. Enjoy!

1. 2L.
2. 6V in 2e L.
3. * Meerder door 2 vaste in 1 steek te haken, 1V. * Herhaal rondom. (9)
4. * Meerder, 1V in volgende 2 steken. * Herhaal rondom. (12)
5. 1V in elke steek rondom. (12)
6. * Meerder, 1V in volgende 3 steken. * Herhaal drie keer. Meerder dan nog een keer in de volgende steek. (16)
7. 6V, maak een oor (in volgende steek: 1HV, 1V, 4ST, 1V, 1HV), 2V, maak nog een oor, 6V.
8. 1V, meerder, 2V, meerder, 1V, sla nu het oortje over, 2V, sla nu het volgende oortje over, 1V, meerder, 2V, meerder, 1V. (18 v) Zorg dat de oortjes aan de goede kant van het haakwerk zitten, haal ze zo nodig door de opening naar de andere kant.
9. 1V in elke steek rondom. (18)
10. * Meerder, 5V. * Herhaal rondom. (21)
11. 1V in elke steek rondom. (21)
12. * Meerder, 6V. * Herhaal rondom. (24)
13. 1V in elke steek rondom. (24)
14.  * Minderen door 2 steken samen te haken, haak daarna 4V. * Herhaal rondom. (20V)
15.  * Minderen door 2 steken samen te haken, haak daarna 3V.  * Herhaal rondom. (16V)
Vul de muis op.
16.  * Minderen door 2 steken samen te haken, haak daarna 2V.  * Herhaal rondom. (12V)
17. Minder rondom. (6)
Maak de muis dicht en naai een neusje en oogjes op de voorkant.

Staart
Haak 15 lossen. Haak dan vanaf de tweede steek vanaf de naald 14 lossen. Je kunt de staart uiteraard langer of korter maken. Maak de staart daarna vast aan de muis.

Pattern mouse
1. Make 2 chain stitches.
2. 6SC in 2nd chain from hook.
3. Increase by doing 2SC in the first stitch, 1SC in the next. Repeat until you have 9 stitches.
4. * Increase, 1SC in the next 2 stitches. * Repeat until you have 12 stitches.
5. 1SC in each stitch around. (12)
6. * Increase , 1SC in the next 3 stitches. * Repeat until you have 15 stitches. Make another 2SC in the next stitch. (16)
7. 6SC. Now make an ear. You do that by doing the following in the next stitch (1 slip stitch, 1SC, 4DC, 1SC, 1 slip stitch). Make 2SC in the next two stitches. Crochet another ear in the next stitch. Make another 6SC in the next stitches.
8. 1SC, 2SC in the next stitch, 2SC, 2SC in the next stitch, 1SC, skip the ear, 2SC, skip the next ear, 1SC, 2SC in the next stitch, 2SC, 2SC in the next stitch. (18) Make sure the ears are on the right side of you work. Push them through the small opening if they are not.
9. 1SC in each stitch around. (18)
10. * Increase, 5SC. * Repeat until you have 21 stitches.
11. 1SC in each stitch around. (21)
12. * Increase, 6SC. * Repeat until you have 24 stitches.
13. 1SC in each stitch around. (24)
14. * Decrease by crocheting two together, 4 single crochet. * Repeat until you have 20 stitches.
15. * Decrease by crocheting two together, 3 single crochet. * Repeat until you have 16 stitches.
Fill the mouse with fyberfill.
16. * Decrease by crocheting two together, 2 single crochet. * Repeat until you have 12 stitches.
17. Decrease around. (6)
Embroider a nose and eyes on the front of the mouse.

Tail
Crochet 15 chain stitches. In the second chain from the hook crochet single crochet all the way down until you have 14 stitches. Ofcourse you can make the tail longer or shorter if you wish. Attach the tail to the mouse.

Mice - Muizen

Mijn nichtje Noor werd dit weekend vijf, en volgende week geeft ze een partijtje. Om de kinderen die op haar partijtje komen te bedanken voor het komen heb ik deze muizen gehaakt die aan het einde van het feestje uitgedeeld zullen worden. De mama van Noor gaat er nog een mooi kaartje aanhangen en dan is het alleen nog maar hopen dat het in goede aarde valt.
Het patroon van deze muizen komt in loop van deze week op mijn blog. En voor wie niet kan haken: mail me als je interesse hebt want je kunt ze natuurlijk bestellen.

My niece Noor turned five this weekend, and next week she'll be giving a birthday party. To thank the little guests for coming, I crocheted these mice that will be handed out at the end of the party. Noor's mamma will attach a nice card to them and then all we can do is hoping that this gift will be well received.
The pattern of these mice will be posted on this blog somewhere this week. For those of you who can't crochet: send me an email if you're interested because ofcourse they can be ordered.

A really cool book! - Een heel erg gaaf boek!

Afgelopen dinsdagavond kreeg ik dit boek van mijn zus. Een heel leuk kadootje want er staan zoveel leuke dingen in! Allemaal tips over (onder meer) haken en breien, waaronder een paar hele mooie patronen van granny squares. Maar ook steken die ik nog niet kende. Kortom, kun je ergens dit boek op de kop tikken, doe dat dan vooral. Het is echt de moeite waard.

Last Tuesdayevening my sister gave me this book. A really lovely present because there are so many really nice things in it! All sorts of tips about (amongst others) crochet and knitting, including really gorgeous patterns of granny squares. But also stitches I had never heard. So, are you ever in the position of buying this book, then do so. It really is worth while.

Pattern books - Patronen boeken

Er zijn een heleboel haak- en breiboeken te vinden, maar ik moet toegeven dat ik alleen een paar basisboeken heb over Hoe Je Moet Haken en Hoe Je Moet Breien. Maar, gisteren heb ik mijn eerste haakboek gekocht met echte patronen: Weekend Crochet. Ik vind dat het er prachtig uitziet aan de buitenkant, en het idee dat ik een heel project in een weekend af kan maken spreekt me ook erg aan. Maar, ben ik nou degene die jullie kan adviseren welk haakboek je moet kopen? Nee, ik denk het niet. Maar ik kwam wel een paar hele mooie tegen die ik graag zou willen hebben. Dit zijn die boeken:

There are a lot of crochet- and knittingbooks out there, but I must admit I only have a few basic books on How To Crochet en How to Knit. But, yesterday I've ordered my first crochet book with real patterns: Weekend Crochet. I think it looks great from the outside, and the idea of being able to crochet a full project in one weekend sounds really nice as well. But, am I the one who can advise you which crochet book you should buy? No, I don't think so. But I came across a few really nice ones that I would love to have. Here they are:

Kun je zelf niet haken of breien of is wanten maken niet jouw ding? Je kunt natuurlijk altijd nog op Etsy kijken en een mooi paar uitkiezen. Etsy is wat mij betreft de meest ondergewaardeerde webshop die er is. Er zijn zoveel mooie wanten (en andere dingen) te vinden daar! Kijk bijvoorbeeld maar eens naar deze wanten. Ben je op zoek naar een paar voor kinderen? Dan vind je de wanten op de foto misschien leuk. Die vind je hier in de Etsy-shop van Cynthia. Deze zijn ook leuk, en deze, deze en... zucht! Ik vind ze allemaal mooi! (-:

You can still look at Etsy and choose a nice pair there. Etsy is, as far as I'm concerned, the most under-appreciated webshop there is. There are so many lovely mittens (and other things) there! Take a look at these mittens for example. Looking for childrens mittens? Then maybe you like the mittens on the picture. They can be found here in the Etsy-shop of Cynthia. These are nice as well, and these, these and... sigh! I love them all! (-:

Patterns - Patronen

Wanten zijn er in allerlei soorten en maten, maar eigenlijk zijn er een heleboel eenvoudige patronen die ook een beginnend haker of breier makkelijk kan maken. Kijk maar eens op de site van Garnstudio. Een andere site waar ik graag een bezoekje aan breng is de site van Pickles. Op deze site staat een breipatroon voor hele schattige kinderwanten maar ook Mittens for Miss. Ook op Etsy zijn patronen te vinden. De wanten op de foto hierboven zijn gemaakt door Bananamoonstudio. Je kunt ze kant en klaar kopen in de Etsy-shop van Bananamoonstudio, maar je kunt ook het patroon in haar Etsy-shop bestellen of op Ravelry.
Er zijn natuurlijk veel meer patronen op het web te vinden. Een aantal patronen die ik erg mooi vind:
gehaakte wanten, Bella McBride Crochet Patterns, diverse gratis patronen (alleen in het NL beschikbaar) en het basispatroon gehaakte wanten. Wil je zien welke wanten ik tot nu toe heb gemaakt? Kijk dan in mijn Flickr-album.

Mittens can be found in all kinds and sizes, but actually there are a lot of fairly easy patterns that can be made by a crocheter or knitter that is a beginner as well. Sinds ik het patroon van Vicarno's Mama zag ben ik helemaal verslaafd geraakt aan het haken van wanten. Dus daarom bedacht ik dat een hele week bloggen over niets anders dan wanten echt geweldig leuk zou zijn. En dat is hoe het idee van de Wanten Week is ontstaan. Mittens week - Wanten week

Nu het herfst en bijna winter is, is het weer het seizoen van de handschoenen en wanten. Daarom is het volgende week Wanten Week op mijn blog. Een week vol met berichtjes over leuke patronen, mooie boeken en zelfgemaakte wanten. Mis het niet, want bij de Wanten Week hoort natuurlijk ook een Giveaway!

A cute mouse - Een schattige muis

Het patroon van deze hele schattige muis is nu te vinden op de website van Caitlin an Marijke Bongers. Het is nog niet beschikbaar in het Engels, maar een bezoekje aan hun blog is hoe dan ook een bezoekje waard. Ze hebben zoveel leuke dingen op hun blog. Een bezoekje aan hun winkel in Hardinxveld-Giessendam staat daarom ook al heel lang op mijn I-wish-to-do-list.

The pattern of this really cute mouse is now available on the website of Caitlin and Marijke Bongers. It is not available in English yet, but a visit to their blog is really worth while! They have so many really nice things on their blog. Therefore, a visit to their shop in Hardinxveld-Giessendam is on my I-wish-to-do-list for some time.

Another little blanket - Nog een klein dekentje

Dit kleine dekentje lijkt een beetje op mijn eerdere deken. Ik hou van dekens met heel veel rood/rose/paars erin, dus daarom heb ik voor deze deken weer dezelfde kleuren gebruikt. Hij is 75 x 75 cm, dus hij is niet heel erg groot maar groot genoeg voor een wiegje. Ik heb de vierkantjes eerst aan elkaar genaaid voordat ik de rand eromheen haakte. Dat kost best veel tijd, maar ik vond het de mooiste manier voor dit dekentje.

This little blanket is a bit similar to my previous blanket. I love blankets with a lot of red/pink/purple in it, so that's why I've used the same colours again. It is 75 x 75 cm, so it's not very big but it's big enough for a crib. I've sewed the squares before I crocheted the edge around it. It took quite some time, but I thought it was the best way for this blanket.

Mittens - Wanten

Zijn ze niet schattig? Ik heb deze wanten dit weekend gemaakt en ik vind ze zo lief! Dit zijn wanten voor kinderen, maar er is ook een patroon voor volwassenen. Het is heel erg makkelijk te haken (het patroon is helaas niet meer verkrijgbaar). Ik heb dit paar naar mijn nichtjes gestuurd om te kijken of ze passen. Als ze ze heel erg leuk vinden maak ik natuurlijk nog een paar want dit paar delen is natuurlijk niet handig. En als ik dan toch bezig ben... zou dit ook een leuke Giveaway zijn?

Aren't they cute? I made these mittens this weekend and I love them! These are children's mittens, but there's also a pattern for adults. It is really easy to crochet (the pattern is unfortunately not available anymore). I've send this pair to my nieces to see if they fit. If they like them a lot, I will make them another pair because sharing this pair isn't very easy ofcourse. And while I'm at it... would this be a nice Giveaway?
