Doris Dragon Crochet Kit

I got such a nice crochet kit. It's the crochet kit from Dragon Doris of Hardicraft. I'd had a Hardicraft package before: this crochet kit from Vinny the Frog. Vinny is a design by Christel Krukkert. But now a dragon! Very nice, because I've never crocheted a dragon before I think. The pattern is by Sylvia Molenaar. The same package is available in purple, that's Dragon Syl. In the package you'll find the pattern, yarn, stuffing and safety eyes. So you can get started right away. The dragon is crocheted with a crochet hook 2.5mm. I had to search for mine, because I usually crochet with a 3.5mm. But now that I have everything together I can get started. As soon as the dragon is finished I will show it of course. Will you come and have a look again?
p.s. I made the dragon, you can check it out here

Crochet Round Granny Pillow

Finally, this pillow is finished. It took me quite a while, because I wanted the circle to be nice and flat and not wavy or curled. So after a lot of unravelling and starting all over again it all worked out and this is the result. The pattern of this circle is so nice and flat that you can easily use it for a doily as well, but I will show you that another time. This pillow is 40cm wide (diameter) and I crocheted it with scraps of Phildar Phil Coton 3 and a crochet hook 3.5mm. It has become a very nice colorful pillow. The pattern is available here in English and Dutch on Ravelry. I wish you a nice day!

Link Your Stuff!

1. Crochet blanket by Hobbydingen
2. Giraf by Conhiloslanasybotones
3. Kangooroo by Fie bakt, haakt en breit
4. Blanket by Hip en Kleurig

Welcome to this new Link Your Stuff! Up till now there was only one rule at Link Your Stuff: it is not allowed to join the party as a webshop. But as from today I will add another rule: each participant can add a maximum of three links. I opted for this because I like it when everyone has the change to show what they've made, and sometimes that just doesn't work out if there are a lot of links of the same participant. So if you want to participate, you are most welcome, but remember that you can only share three links. I wish you a lot of fun!

Picknick Blanket

This is another great blanket. The blanket is made as a picnic blanket, and although it's not the weather for a picknick at all, it's a nice moment to start with this blanket. Because it will take quite some time to finish this blanket. The tutorial on how to make this blanket can be found here. You can use scraps of yarn for it, but of course you can also pick and match the colors. The maker of this blanket used three types of yarn and they seem to fit together very well. The yarns that were used are listed in the blog post, so take a look here. The website is worth having a look at anyway, too bad the owner stopped blogging. However, if you read her last post, there is a chance she will return later this year. Let's hope so, because I'm sure there's a lot more gorgeous work she has to share.

Grandma's Bedspread

What a gorgeous bedspread this is. And it is a bedspread with a very touching story, you can read it here on the blog of EchtStudio. The pattern is available as a free download here (in Dutch only) in the webshop of EchtStudio. For this bedspread you'll need a lot of cotton, but it is certainly worth it. I wonder if anyone made this bedspread in a color like pink or blue? I'd love to hear it if that's the case.

Crochet Pineapple Keychain

I made a pineapple keychain with the very cutte pattern of Dutch Little Dots. The pattern is available in Dutch here. For a translation scheme go here. For another pinapple keychain pattern go here. I made my pineapple keychain with Phildar Phil Coton 3 and a crochet hook size 3.5mm. Happy crocheting!

Blue Violets Blanket

So nice, all the birthday wishes I got because I was celebrating my blog anniversary of ten years. The giveaway of my book Crochet in the City was a huge success. The winners are now known: Sylvia Hummel, Jenneke van Maurik and Daphne Mols have won a copy of my book. On the photo above this post you see the Blue Violets Blanket. That is one of the patterns from the book. It's one of my favourite patterns from the book because I love the combination of the dark blue with the cheerful flowers. I made this blanket with Phildar Phil Coton 3. Would you like to read more about my book? Take a look here. If you live in the Netherlands you can order my book here. If you live abroad, take a look at the map at the bottom of this page. Then you can see where you can order the book from abroad. Thank you all for participating and the sweet messages. I'm looking forward to continue blogging the next ten years. :-)

Crochet in the City Giveaway

Tien jaar bloggen.

Ten years of blogging. Time really flew by! Ten years in which I crocheted so much and met a lot of sweet crocheters and creative people. Ten years in which I have created and shared many patterns with great pleasure and in which I got to do so many nice things. Writing articles for Dutch and international magazines, blogging for other blogs and websites, giving workshops in the Netherlands and the UK and perhaps the best part: making books! To celebrate all that, I give away three packages containing my latest book: Crochet in the City! Do you want to have a chance to win? Leave a comment below. I will announce the winners Wednesday. You can also join through Facebook. Do you want to read more about Crochet in the City? Then click here. Good luck!

Granny square pattern

Ten years of blogging! And shortly after I first started blogging I already wrote patterns. And some patterns I wrote only in Dutch and others I divided over multiple blog posts. That's not very helpful if you want to make something, and so I decided to rewrite some of the patterns. I removed the old blog posts so things don't get mixed up. One of those patterns is the pattern of the square on the photo. You can make this square in one colour or multiple colours. I made this square with a crochet hook size 3mm and Cotton Eight yarn. Phildar Phil Coton 3 is a good alternative. Back in 2010 I made the same square with Drops Paris and with a crochet hook size 4mm. An alternative yarn for Drops Paris is Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran.
What I love about this pattern is that the square is very solid and chunky. It's not suitable for making a blanket or garments, but ideal for a nice pillow cover. Unfortunately I don't have the pillow anymore, and good quality photos of the pillow are also unavailable, but on the photo below you can get a general idea on how the pillow looked like. You can find the pattern of this square below. The English pattern is below the Dutch pattern. Go here if you want to know how to sew the squares.

Patroon granny square

Begin met kleur A
7. Haak nu drie lossen en vervolgens in dezelfde opening 1 clustersteek, 1 losse, 1 clustersteek. Haak dan weer 1 losse.
8. Sla twee clustersteken over.
11. Sla twee clustersteken over.

Pattern granny square
Make a cluster stitch as follows: yarn over, insert hook in the next stitch or in the magic ring/ring of chains, yarn over, pull yarn through the stitch (you now have 3 loops on your hook), yarn over, pull yarn through 2 loops on hook.
Yarn over again, insert hook in same stitch/magic ring/ring of chains, yarn over, pull through stitch (you now have 4 loops on your hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook.
Yarn over again, insert hook in same stitch/magic ring/ring of chains, yarn over, pull through stitch (you now have 5 loops on your hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook.
Yarn over again, pull yarn through all 3 stitches on your hook. Now you've made the cluster stitch.

Start with color A
1. Make a magic ring or chain 4 and make a slip stitch in the first chain.
2. Chain 4 (these do not count as a stitch).
3. * Make a cluster stitch in the ring (see explanation above), chain 1. * Crochet what is in between * seven more times. Then make a slip stitch in the first cluster stitch that you made.
4. Make 1 slip stitch in the next chain-1-opening and change to color B.
5. Chain 3 (these do not count as a stitch). * In the opening between the two underlying cluster stitches: make 1 cluster stitch, chain 1, make 1 cluster stitch, chain 1. * Repeat around what is in between * until you've reached the first cluster stitch again. Make 1 slip stitch in the first cluster stitch.
6. Make 1 chain stitch in between the next two cluster stitches, make 1 slip stitch in the next cluster stitch, make 1 slip stitch in between the following two cluster stitches and change color to color C while doing so.
7. Chain 3 and do the following in the same opening below: 1 cluster stitch, chain 1, 1 cluster stitch, chain 1.
8. Skip two cluster stitches. Crochet a corner in the opening between the next two cluster stitches. Do this as follows: make 1 cluster stitch, chain 1, 1 cluster stitch, chain 2, 1 cluster stitch, chain 1, 1 cluster stitch. All stitches go in the same opening. Then chain 1 again.
11. Skip two cluster stitches. In the opening between the next two cluster stitches: make 1 cluster stitch, chain 1, make 1 cluster stitch. Then chain 1 again.
12. Now repeat rows 10 and 11 until you've reached the first cluster stitch again. Then make 1 slip stitch in the first cluster stitch and fasten off.

As an alternative you can make a round of single crochet stitches after row 12. Do this as follows: after the last slip stitch: chain 1, make 1 single crochet in each cluster stitch around. Also, make 1 single crochet around the chain stitches that are in between the cluster stitches. In the corners you do: 1 single crochet, chain 1, 1 single crochet. When you are round, make 1 slip stitch in the first single crochet and fasten off.
Now make as many squares as you need for a pillow. If you click here, you can see how to sew the squares together.

3. Angel Gaby by Fie bakt, haakt en breit!
4. Mouse Pien by Hip en Kleurig

Kom je morgen even kijken?

Welkome to this first Link Your Stuff of 2020. My blog has been here for ten years, and this is the first Link Your Stuff of the eleventh year. I had never expected to crochet or blog for so long, but it happened and I still love it.
It's lovely to have you here again and I hope to see you here often in 2020. Tomorrow I'll share a pattern that I wrote in the beginning of my blogging years but I rewrote it and it's still so much fun. I hope to see you tomorrow! And did you see the Link Your Stuff year overview of 2019? Click here to see it. I wish you a lovely day and lots of fun at Link Your Stuff!
