Crochet hedgehog

 

Vorige week heb ik alle knuffels die ik het afgelopen jaar maakte weggegeven. Het was iets wat ik al langer van plan was, maar ik kon de tijd en - belangrijker nog - het juiste project waar ik de knuffels aan wilde geven niet vinden. Maar vorige week vond ik dan eindelijk een prachtig project. Het heet 'Sint voor elk kind' en de mensen achter deze organisatie maken kadopakketjes voor Sinterklaas. Meer in het bijzonder maken ze kadopakketjes voor kinderen die in een gezin wonen waar de financiele middelen niet zijn om Sinterklaas te vieren. Dit jaar hebben ze kadopakketjes gemaakt voor zo'n 11.000 families! Zo ongelooflijk mooi dat ze dat hebben kunnen doen.

Ik heb zo ongeveer 100 knuffels naar deze organisatie gebracht en ik ben zo blij dat ik het gedaan heb. Maar het is tegelijkertijd ook wel gek om mijn kastdeur open te doen en alle lege dozen te zien zonder gehaakte knuffels. Dus ik ben meteen weer begonnen met het maken van nieuwe knuffels en deze egel is de eerste die ik haakte. Het is een gratis patroon van Repeat Crafter Me en je kunt het hier vinden. Ik maakte deze egel met Phildar Phil Coton 4 en een haaknaald 4mm. Ik gebruikte 6mm oogjes (en niet 12mm zoals aangegeven in het patroon). Ik vind het een schattige egel geworden en ik kijk er naar uit om nog meer knuffels te haken om mijn lege kast op te vullen. Last week I gave away all the toys I made in the past year. It was something I wanted to do for a long time but I just didn't find the time and - more importantly - I couldn't find a project that I wanted to give them too. But last week I found a very lovely charity project. It's called 'Sint voor elk kind' and they make gift bags for the children's festival Sinterklaas (read more about Sinterklaas here). More specifically, they make gift bags for low-income families so no children have to celebrate Sinterklaas without a gift. This year they made gift bags for about 11.000 families! Such an amazing job.

I brought about a hundred amigurumi to this organisation and I'm very happy I did. But it is also a bit weird to open my closet and look at all the empty boxes without any toys. So I started making a new one, and this hedgehog is the first. It is a free pattern by Repeat Crafter Me and you can find it here. I made this hedeghog with Phildar Phil Coton 4 and a crochet hook size 4mm. I used 6mm safety eyes (and not 12mm as mentioned in the pattern). Dit schattige gratis patroontje kwam ik hier tegen op deze website. Is het geen schatje? Er staat precies bij welke materialen je nodig en hoe lang je er ongeveer over doet om deze egel te maken. Hebben we ooit genoeg leuke herfstpatroontje? Nee, ik denk het niet. Ik heb er weer een paar verzameld zoals je op de foto hierboven kunt zien. De linkjes naar de patronen staan onder de foto. Voor sommige patroontjes moet je een account aanmaken (bijvoorbeeld op Ravelry), maar ze zijn in elk geval gratis beschikbaar. Heel veel plezier met deze herfstachtige verzameling!

Crochet Hedgehogs

 

Heel soms maak ik wat dingetjes in opdracht, en dit keer kreeg ik het verzoek of ik drie egeltjes kon haken. De kleuren mocht ik zelf bepalen, als de neus maar iets kleiner was dan die van deze egel. Ik vond het erg leuk om te doen en het resultaat vind ik heel goed gelukt. Het patroon vind je trouwens hier. Ik vertaalde het destijds in het Nederlands voor Marika, dus als je Engels lastig vindt dan is dat voor dit patroon geen probleem. Ik haakte deze egeltjes met Phildar Phil Coton 3 en een haaknaald 3mm.

Sometimes I get a request from someone who wants something special, and this time I was asked to make three hedgehogs. I was allowed to pick the colours, as long as the nose was a little smaller then the one from this hedgehog. I really liked making them and I love the end result. The pattern is available here. I translated it into Dutch for Marika, so if you're having troubles reading English patterns that's no problem at all. De vorige keer haakte ik een roze egel (klik hier), maar nu heb ik een blauwe gehaakt. Het patroontje vind je in deze Etsy-winkel. Ik haakte deze egeltjes met Phildar Phil Coton 3 en een haaknaald 3mm.

Er zijn van die patroontjes die je ziet die je zo graag wilt hebben dat je er ook echt meteen mee aan de slag wilt gaan. Het patroontje hierboven is er zo een. Ik vond het in de Etsy-shop van Marika. Er staan heel veel patroontjes in haar winkel die allemaal het maken waard zijn, maar alleen dit patroontje is ook in het Nederlands beschikbaar (de overige patroontjes alleen in het Engels). Na je aankoop kun je het patroon meteen downloaden dankzij de nieuwe optie Digital Download van Etsy. Hartstikke handig, want je wilt natuurlijk meteen aan de slag als je eenmaal een patroontje hebt gekocht. Ik ben inmiddels met mijn derde egel bezig en het is echt verslavend. Het is leuk om met de kleuren te wisselen, en ik denk dat ik ook nog een keer een regenboog-egel ga maken. There are a few very cute patterns that you want to start working on immediately once you've seen them. The pattern above is a great example. I found it in the Etsy-shop of Marika. There are a lot of patterns in her shop that are all worth making, but this pattern is available in Dutch as well (the other onces are only available in English). After you bought your pattern you can download it straight away thanks to Etsy's new feature: Digital Download. That's very handy, because once you've purchased a pattern you want to start working on it as soon as you've paid for it. I'm working on my third hedgehog right now and it's really addictive. It's very fun to change the colours for every hedgehog, and I think I will make myself a rainbow-hedgehog one day. Luckily there are a few babies on the way in my surrounding, so I think I will make myself a supply of hedgehogs so I'm prepared for everything that's coming :-) Do you want to make a cute hedgehog yourself? Het mag duidelijk zijn dat ik een enorme Knit Kit-fan ben, maar inmiddels heb ik ook de Crochet Kit's ontdekt. De foto hierboven komt van Etsy waar je deze Crochet Kit kon bestellen. Helaas is deze Crochet Kit niet meer te bestellen is, maar zoek eens op Google naar Crochet Kit of Haakpakket en je vindt een heleboel leuke exemplaren.
