Crochet Cowl Pattern

Vorig jaar heb ik verschillende workshops gegeven tijdens de Knitting & Stitching Show in London, en voor die workshops had ik een aantal nieuwe ontwerpen nodig. Ik vind het altijd leuk om te zien wat ik met maar 1 bol wol kan maken, en zo kwam ik op het idee om deze col te maken. Ik heb niet veel cols of sjaals gehaakt, omdat ik meer fan ben van de gebreide varianten. Maar met deze ben ik echt heel blij. Het patroon is in het Engels verkrijgbaar in mijn Etsy-winkel. Last year I was doing several workshops at the Knitting & Stitching Show in London, and for these workshops I needed some new designs. I always love to see what I can make out of just 1 ball of yarn, and so I made this cowl. I haven't made many cowls, because usually I prefer knitted cowls and shawls. Sjaals haken a la Sascha

Gisteren was ik bij Wolplein bij de boekpresentatie van het boek Sjaals haken a la Sascha. Wat een prachtig boek is het! Zodra het kon ben ik thuis aan de slag gegaan met de sjaal genaamd 'Kronkelpad'. Een heel fijn patroon want je kunt het gedachteloos weghaken, en van dat soort projecten word ik altijd erg blij. Het boek staat vol met hele mooie patronen. Van niet zo ingewikkeld tot juist wel heel ingewikkeld. Er staan niet alleen geschreven patronen in maar bij elke sjaal vind je ook een haakdiagram. De foto's zijn ontzettend mooi en de hardcover van het boek met mooie witte opdruk op de zijkant maken het een eye-catcher in je kast. Ik ben ontzettend bij met dit boek. De sjaal op de foto haakte ik met een haaknaald 7mm en een bol Paintbox Chunky Pots in de kleur Paradise. Voor een lekkere lange sjaal heb je minstens twee Chunky Pots nodig. Yesterday I was at Wolplein at the book launch party of the Dutch book 'Sjaals haken a la Sascha'. It's such a gorgeous book! As soon as I could I started working on my first scarf from the book. The pattern was really nice and easy to follow, and patterns that continue in the same sequence are my favourite, so I really love this one. The book is filled with many pretty patterns. From not too complicated to complicated. And the patterns are not only written, they come with diagrams as well. The pictures in the book are really nice and the hardcover of the book with the black print on the side make the book a real eye-catcher in your bookcase. The scarf on the photo was made with a crochet hook size 7mm and a ball of Paintboxy Chunky Pots in the color Paradise. For a nice and long scarf you will need at least two Chunky Post. Granny square shawl

Dit weekend begon ik aan een nieuw project: een granny square sjaal, gehaakt met Phildar Phil Coton 3 (kleur Naval) en een haaknaald 5mm. Het patroon is heel simpel, ik vond het hier. Ik ben nu met de vijfde bol bezig en ik denk dat de sjaal dan groot genoeg is maar misschien dat ik nog een zesde bol nodig heb. Het patroon heeft namelijk niet echt een rand, en dat vind ik wel mooier dus het kan zijn dat ik daar nog een extra bolletje voor ga gebruiken. Als de sjaal af is zal ik het hier laten zien. Voor nu wens ik jullie hele fijne Kerstdagen toe!

This weekend I started with a new project: a granny square shawl, made with Phildar Phil Coton 3 (color Naval) and a crochet hook 5mm. The pattern is really simple, I found it here. I've just started on the fifth ball and I think the shawl is big enough when I've reached the end of this ball. But maybe I'll need another ball for the edging. The pattern doesn't have an edging and I would like to add one, so maybe I'll use ball number six for that. Once the shawl is finished I'll show it here. Adalynn Cowl

Ken je I Like Crochet al? Het is een prachtige website en ik vind het supertof dat ik kan melden dat onlangs mijn eerste patroon voor deze website online is gekomen. Je vindt mijn designer pagina hier, een overzicht van alle designers vind je hier.
Al eerder werd een patroontje uit mijn boek Crochet in the City via I Like Crochet gedeeld, maar nu is ook mijn laatste patroon gepubliceerd. Het is de Adalynn Cowl en je ziet 'm op de foto hierboven. Deze col is heerlijk voor een fietstocht door de kou maar ook binnen kun je de col heel goed omdoen. Het patroon is niet eenvoudig, maar dat is er dan ook meteen weer leuk aan want bij het haken van deze col zul je een aantal niet zo voor de hand liggende steken tegenkomen.
De col maakt trouwens deel uit van de Collections Club. De collections zijn telkens sets van 5 patronen aan de hand van een bepaald onderwerp. Deze col vind je in de collectie sjaals, maar je hebt ook een collectie met bijvoorbeeld amigurumi. Klik hier om alle collections te zien.
Wil je de col of een van de andere prachtige patronen van I Like Crochet haken? Some time ago a pattern from my book Crochet in the City was published at the I Like Crochet website, but now my latest design has been published. It's the Adalynn Cowl and you can see it on the photo above this blog post. 
The cowl is really nice to wear outside, but even inside it's a great piece to wear. The pattern isn't very easy, but that's also the fun thing about it. While making this cowl you will use stitches that you don't use very often.

Free crochet cowl pattern

Vorige week was ik op het wolfeest van LangYarns en ik kreeg een prachtige bol met Lang Yarns Young. Het is een heel dik garen en ik wist eigenlijk meteen wat ik er mee wilde maken. Een fijne dikke cowl voor de winterse maanden. De bol zelf is niet heel erg goedkoop, maar je hebt wel echt kwaliteit in huis. En als je deze cowl wilt haken, dan heb je aan 1 bol genoeg. Als je je trouwens inschrijft voor de nieuwsbrief van LoveCrochet, dan krijg je nog eens 15% korting op de bol.
Voor de col gebruikte ik een haaknaald 20mm. Het patroon schreef ik uit. De Nederlandse versie vind je onderaan dit blogbericht. De Engelse kun je hier downloaden. Veel haakplezier gewenst!

Last week I was at Lang Yarns yarn party and I got this gorgeous ball of Lang Yarns Young. It's a chunky yarn and I knew right away that I had to make a cowl out of it. If you buy this yarn, you will get a quality ball and even though it is pretty expensive, it is really worth it. If you want to make this cowl you'll only need 1 ball. If you subscribe to LoveCrochet's newsletter, you will get a 15% discount.
For this cowl I used a crochet hook size 20mm. I wrote the pattern down, the English (US terms) version is available for download here. Happy crocheting!

Haakpatroon cowl
1. Haak 25 lossen, haak 1 halve vaste in de eerste losse.
2. Haak 2 lossen (telt als het eerste halve stokje), haak 1 half stokje in elke losse. (25)
3. Haak 1 halve vaste in de tweede losse die je haakte aan het begin van toer 2.
4. Haak 1 halve vaste tussen het eerste halve stokje (de 2 lossen dus) en het volgende halve stokje. Haak 2 lossen, keer je werk, haak 1 half stokje tussen alle halve stokjes.

Herhaal vervolgens toer 3 en 4 totdat je bol op is. Je hebt rondom telkens 25 halve stokjes. Als je helemaal klaar bent haak je een halve vaste in het eerstvolgende halve stokje. Werk dan de begin- en einddraad weg.

Granny shawl

Toen ik laatst in Delft rondliep kwam ik in een winkeltje waar ik wel vaker kom. Ik vond er deze geweldige sjaal. Hij is gehaakt van granny squares en wat zou ik graag het patroon willen hebben. Nou ja, eigenlijk hoeft dat niet meer want een tweede heb ik niet nodig natuurlijk. :) Ik ben er heel blij mee! Hij is gemaakt van heel erg zacht garen en de kwaliteit is heel erg goed.

When I walked around in Delft lately I ended up in a shop where I'd been before. They sell this gorgeous scarf. It is crocheted of granny squares and I would love to have the pattern. Oh well, ofcourse I don't need a second one. :-) I'm really happy with it. It's made out of very soft yarn and the quality is really good. 

Crochet Party

Vorige week was het eindelijk zover: het haakfeestje georganiseerd door Lisanne van Draad en Praat en Knottenwol. Ik had er erg naar uit gekeken want ik was al eens eerder op een haakfeestje van Lisanne geweest, en dat was zo ontzettend leuk! De vorige keer heb ik zoveel leuke en creatieve haaksters ontmoet, en ook dit keer beloofde de deelnemerslijst weer veel goeds. Voor mij was het dit keer ook heel erg dichtbij, want het feestje was bij Knotten en die winkel ligt op loopafstand van mijn huis. Dus stipt om twaalf uur was ik bij de winkel. Achter de winkel van Knotten ligt een prachtige workshopruimte, en die was door Francis (de eigenaresse van Knotten) en Lisanne helemaal gezellig gemaakt met (natuurlijk) heel veel mooie haakprojecten uit de winkel van Francis. En er lag een enorme berg wol van Lana Grossa waar we mee aan de slag mochten. Ik ben begonnen met Lala Berlin Hairy, wat een heel erg pluizig garen is. Ik dacht dat het wel lastig zou zijn om mee te haken, maar het viel reuze mee. Het enige wat je niet moet doen is: uithalen en opnieuw beginnen. Dan gaat het garen al snel in de knoop en is het einde letterlijk en figuurlijk zoek. Het was niet alleen leuk om er zelf mee te haken, het was vooral ook erg leuk om te zien wat anderen maakten. Ik zag kleurwissels, sjaals, cols en een paar mensen zijn van plan er een vest mee te haken. Ik was zelf zo druk met haken en praten dat ik gewoon vergeten ben om foto's te maken, maar gelukkig kun je het via Instagram allemaal nog meebeleven. Als je de hashtags #lanagrossahaakparty of #garenproeverijknotten gebruikt om te zoeken dan vind je hele leuke foto's van het garen en de middag.
Toen ik naar huis ging kreeg ik nog een geweldig tas met heel mooi garen mee en een stapel prachtige Lana Grossa boeken om uit te haken of om inspiratie mee op te doen. Kortom: de komende tijd ben ik druk met uitvogelen wat ik met dat mooie garen ga doen. Oh ja, op de foto hierboven zie je een mooi garen wat in de tas zat. Het is Lala Berlin Softness van Lana Grossa. Het is heel mooi zacht garen in een hele mooie lichtroze kleur. Ik ga er een sjaal van maken en ik zal jullie zeker laten zien hoe het er uit ziet als het af is. Een fijne zondag allemaal!

Last week the long expected Crochet Party, organised by Lisanne from the blog Draad en Praat en the yarn shop Knottenwol took place. I had been looking forward to it for a long time because I had been on a Crochet Party of Lisanne before and that was so much fun! I met a lot of creative crocheters at the previous party, and when I checked the list of invitees this time I was super excited.
This time it was also very close to home for me, because the party was at Knottenwol, a yarn shop within walking distance from my house. So at twelve o'clock sharp I was at the store. Behind the shop of Knotten there is a lovely workshop area, and Francis (from Knotten) and Lisanne made it a lovely cosy place with (ofcourse) a lot of crochet projects from the shop of Francis. Besides that there was a huge pile of yarn by Lana Grossa and we were invited to make some lovely crochet projects with that yarn. I started with Lala Berlin Hairy, which is a very fluffy yarn. I thought it would be difficult to work with but it wasn't at all. There's just one thing you'd better not do with this yarn: pull it out and start over again. That's when the yarn turned into a huge knot so make sure to get a good pattern before you start. Not only was it fun to crochet, I really enjoyed to see what others were making. I saw color changes, scarves, cols and some people were planning to crochet a vest. I was so busy crocheting and talking that I simply forgot to take pictures, but fortunately you can still check out some pictures of this afternoon via Instagram. If you use the hashtags #lanagrossahaakparty or #garenproeverijknotten, you will find lots of nice pictures of the yarn and the afternoon. When I went home I got a huge bag with really nice yarn, and a pile of beautiful Lana Grossa books to crochet from or to get inspired with. So during the next few weeks I'll be busy figuring out what to do with that beautiful yarn. Oh, I almost forgot: on the picture above you can see a beautiful yarn what was in the bag. It's Lala Berlin Softness of Lana Grossa. It is very beautiful soft yarn in a beautiful pink color. I'm going to make a scarf of it and I will surely show you how it looks when it is finished. Shawl

Omdat ik in Delft woon is de winkel PeraPasha in Pijnacker op fietsafstand. Dus op een hele fijne zomerse avond ben ik met een vriendinnetje die kant op gefietst. De winkel zelf is erg groot, en heel mooi licht. Langs de wanden staan kasten vol met vrolijke kleuren wol en katoen. Ik ben dus ook niet met lege handen naar huis gegaan. Met de bol hierboven ben ik een sjaal aan het haken. Ik vind de kleurencombinatie prachtig en het haakt erg fijn, maar omdat ik ook wil kijken hoe de sjaal er uit komt te zien als ik 'm ga breien ben ik aan met het andere uiteinde van de bol aan het breien geslagen. Het eindresultaat zal ik jullie te zijner tijd laten zien en als ik gekozen heb wat ik mooier vindt: haken of breien.

Because I live in Delft the shop PeraPasha in Pijnacker is close enough to reach by bycicle. So on a lovely summer evening I took my bycicle to meet a friend there. The shop is large and light. On the walls you see closets filled with colorful yarn. So I didn't go home empty handed. With the yarn above I'm making a scarf. I love the color combination and it's perfect for crocheting. But I want to see how it looks like when it's a knitted scarf. So with the other end of the ball I've started knitting. I'll show you what it looks like when it's done and when I've made my choice: knitting or crochet.

My scarf is done

Ik heb eindelijk mijn sjaal af. Het was heel veel werk en het heeft denk ik een jaar geduurd omdat er ook zoveel andere projecten waren die ik wilde maken. Maar vandaag heb ik alle draadjes weggewerkt en ga ik weer verder met een volgend project. Ik ben heel blij met hoe de sjaal geworden is. Het patroon komt uit het boek Puur Haken. Het is een heel mooi patroon. Het is duidelijk geschreven en de rest van het boek is ook erg de moeite waard. Het boek is onder meer hier verkrijgbaar. Een fijne zondag allemaal!

I finally finished my scarf. It was a lot of work and I think it almost took me a year to finish it, because I had so many other projects I wanted to finish. But today I worked away all yarn ends and I'm off working on another project. The pattern of this lovely scarf is from the book Puur Haken. It's a lovely pattern. Summer Scarf

Ik ben al een week zo nu en dan bezig met de zomersjaal uit het boek Puur Haken (klik hier). Een heel leuk patroon en als je de slag eenmaal te pakken hebt gaat het op een gegeven moment vanzelf.
Ik had al een fotootje op facebook gezegd en nu wilde iemand weten welk garen ik heb gebruikt. Ik gebruik Puntino van Lana Grossa (kleurnummer 42) en een haaknaald 3mm. Voor de rand heb ik een lichte kleur van DMC liggen, maar ik weet nog niet zeker of ik die ervoor ga gebruiken. Misschien vind ik het wel mooier om alles in dezelfde kleur te doen.

Over the past week I've been working on the summer scarf from the book Puur Haken (click here). It's a very nice pattern and once you've done a few rows the crocheting almost goes by itself.
I already posted a picture on Facebook earlier this week, and now someone asked me what yarn I'm using. It's Puntino by Lana Grossa (color number 42) and a crochet hook size 3mm. I've purchased a lighter colour for the edging but I'm not yet sure if I'll use that. Maybe I'll stick to one colour.

Summer Scarf

Gisteren zag ik bij Knottenwol een hele mooie sjaal hangen. Het was een gebreid ontwerp van Leslie Eisinger. Leslie werkt bij Knottenwol, en heeft onder andere dit prachtige schilderij gemaakt van Koningin Beatrix.
Het breipakket voor deze sjaal vind je hier bij Knottenwol. Het wordt gebreid met een breinaald 20mm en die krijg je erbij als je het pakket besteld. In totaal zitten er vier bolletjes garen in het pakket: 2 bollen Phil Croisiere, 1 bol Phil Funky en 1 bol Pretty Phil. Het patroon zit uiteraard ook in het breipakket.
Ik ben niet zo heel erg goed in breien, dus ik haakte deze sjaal met het materiaal wat in het pakket zit. Ik gebruikte een 20mm haaknaald. Omdat ik een open en luchtige sjaal wilde maken leek het me leuk om het eens met filethaken te proberen. Sinds ik mijn boekje filethaken maakte had ik dat niet meer gedaan, terwijl het makkelijk en leuk is. Dat het makkelijk is blijkt wel uit het patroon van de sjaal.

1. Zet 60 lossen op, maak de eerste losse aan de laatste vast met een halve vaste.
2. Haak 2 lossen, haak 1 vaste in de tweede losse vanaf de naald. Blijf tot je rond bent het volgende herhalen: 2 lossen, sla een steek over, 1 vaste in de volgende losse.
3. Als je rond bent haak je opnieuw 2 lossen en vervolgens 1 vaste in het eerstvolgende 2 lossen-boogje. Blijf dit herhalen tot de sjaal breed genoeg is, of tot de wol uit het pakket op is.

Yesterday I saw a really lovely scarf at Knottenwol. It was a knitted design by Leslie Eisinger. Leslie works for Knottenwol, and made for instance this gorgeous knitted painting of our queen.
The knit kit for this scarf is available here at Knottenwol. For this scarf you have to use 20mm knitting needles, the needles are included when you order the knit kit. In total there are four balls of yarn in the kit: 2 balls of Phil Croisiere, 1 ball of Phil Funky and 1 ball of Pretty Phil. Ofcourse the pattern is in the knit kit as well.
I'm not very good at knitting, so I crocheted this scarf with the materials that are in the knit kit. I used a 20mm crochet hook. Because I wanted it to be an open scarf it seemed fun to do some filet crochet again. Ever since I made my book Filet Crochet I hadn't done it, even though it's easy and fun. You can see how easy it is when you look at the pattern of this scarf.

1. Chain 60. Do a slip stitch in the first chain.
2. *Chain 2, do 1 single crochet in the 2nd chain from hook. Until you've gone round, keep repeating the following: chain 2, skip 1 stitch, 1 single crochet in the next stitch.
3. Once you've gone round do 2 chain stitches again, do 1 single crochet in the next chain-2-bow of the previous row. Keep repeating until your scarf is big enough, or until you've ran out of yarn.

Puppet scarf!

Ik las in de krant vanmorgen dat het weer kouder gaat worden. En dat terwijl er nu toch echt een klein lentezonnetje schijnt. Maar ondanks dat ben ik toch op zoek naar een leuk projectje om de koude dagen door te komen. Deze geweldig leuke sjaal vond ik op de site Yarn Juleps on the Veranda. Aan de sjaal zitten twee hele leuke handpoppen vast. Het patroon vind je op deze site. Daar moet je wel even een account aanmaken, maar als je dan zoekt op Puppet Scarf dan vind je het patroon vanzelf. Je kunt het downloaden als PDF.

I read in the newspaper this morning that the weather is turning cold again. Such a pity now that there was a little bit of Spring sun in the air this morning. Crochet or knitting?

Een tijdje geleden was ik in de winkel bij EchtStudio toen ik een hele mooie sjaal zag liggen. De sjaal was gebreid met Drops Polaris. Tijdens de herfst van vorig jaar was ik ook al aan zo'n sjaal begonnen, maar toen had ik 'm gehaakt. Ik was niet zo blij met hoe hij er uit kwam te zien, en daarom was (en is) hij nog niet af. In de winkel van EchtStudio heb ik meteen drie bollen Drops Polaris gekocht, en ik heb mijn breinaalden (maat 25mm) ergens onderuit een la getoverd. Na twee avonden was de sjaal af. Ik ben er heel erg blij mee en ik weet nu zeker dat ik binnenkort de gehaakte sjaal uit ga halen en 'm overnieuw ga breien. Ik denk dat het dan wel wordt zoals ik graag wil.
p.s. de sjaal is gebreid door telkens een rij recht en een rij averecht te breien. Ik heb in totaal 15 steken opgezet.

Some time ago I was in the shop of EchtStudio when I saw this lovely scarf. The scarf was knitted with Drops Polaris. During last years' fall I started on a scarf like this, but I crocheted it. I wasn't happy with the way it turned out, and therefore it wasn't (and isn't) finished yet. In the shop of EchtStudio I immediately bought three balls of Drops Polaris and I pulled out my knitting needles (size 25mm). After two nights the scarf was finished. I'm really happy with it and I'm sure that I'll grab my crochet scarf pretty soon, unravel it and knit it all over again. I think it will turn out the way I want it like that.
p.s. I knitted the sjawl by repeating one row knit stitches and one row purl stitches. I casted on 15 stitches.

Het is denk ik de leukste sjaal die ik heb gezien de afgelopen tijd! Als ik het voor de winter had gezien had ik er zeker een gemaakt, alhoewel het in de zomer ook niet zal misstaan. De foto is van Vanessa en het patroon van de sjaal vind je op haar blog.
