Crochet Frog

It really is a super cute frog to crochet: Victor the Frog. This time I crocheted him completely in green with pink swimming trunks with a white border. I think this version is also very lovely and cheerful. The pattern is not complicated, but I made it a little easier on myself by not following the exact pattern in the book. In the book, Victor is wearing checkered underwear under his swimming trunks. But this Victor does not have that, he is just all green. I crocheted Victor before. You can find that version here in the row of blog posts about frogs. Victor's pattern can be found in the book Pica Pau by Yan Schenkel.

Frogs, bears and foxes

I have such a huge amount of amigurumi that sometimes I don't know what to do with them. I keep them in a big box and occasionally I google for charity projects that might need them but so far without succes. I used to sell them every now and then on markets, and if the weather was nice it was a lot of fun. But unfortunately that did not happen last year. Who knows, maybe it will happen again soon. What do you do with your amigurumi? I am curious! Leave a comment in the comments because who knows, there might be good tips for me (or others). I wish you a nice Sunday!

p.s. The pattern of the fox is here, the pattern of the frog is in this book, the pattern of the bear is in this book.

Frog by Picapau

Last night I finished this frog. The pattern is in this lovely book. I think this book is one of my favourites. I've had it for some time but I did not make any of the projects so far. It was funny to discover that the frog turned out larger then I thought. I thought it would be the size of my hand, looking at the pictures. But it turned out a frog of 25cm long. The color I used is not the color that's mentioned in the book. I used 1 ball of  (Phildar Phil Coton 3, color Pin 1363). The other colors are also Phildar Phil Coton 3.
I love the flippers, and to sew all parts wasn't as hard as I thought. The pattern is very easy to follow so I will definitely make something of this book again. The book is available here. Luckily it is translated into Dutch but if you want to order the English version you can do so here. Have a lovely evening!

Crochet frog

Did you see this cute frog on my Instagram-account? It's a pattern by Christel Krukkert and the pattern was in a crochet kit by Hardicraft. All materials to make this frog is in the kit. The pattern was very easy to follow so the frog was ready in no time at all and looked just like the frog on the picture of the pattern. More information about this cute crochet kit is here on the website of Hardicraft where you can also find information on where to buy this crochet kit.

Kikker

Click here to subscribe to my newsletter * Klik hier om je in te schrijven voor mijn nieuwsbrief *

Allereerst: Kikker is 42 cm lang.

It took a while but he is finished: Kikker (which is frog in Dutch)! The pattern was published a long time ago in the Dutch magazine Ouders van Nu, and in 2014 I got permission to publish a screen print of the pattern. Click here for the blog post in which the pattern can be found. There are a few things I'd like to tell you about the pattern. First of all: Kikker is 42cm long, which is a lot longer than I thought he would be.
It is not a simple pattern, and that is mainly because the way of writing is different from many patterns that are published today. But in the end it is possible to make the frog, as long as you read well. That may sound silly, but I noticed that sometimes I make mistakes myself when crocheting the patterns of others because I don't do what the pattern says I should do. So important: do whatever the pattern tells you to do.
When I started making the head I often thought: is this going well? There are many increases as from a certain point, so the mouth started to wrinkle a lot. But I went on and in the end it did turn out well when I started to add the stuffing. But I needed a lot of stuffing to make it look right, so my advise is: buy good stuffing. Nowadays you can buy stuffing in many large shops but the only stuffing I like is Panda stuffing or Restyle stuffing. It's really worth to pay a bit more for good quality because you will need less stuffing when you use a better quality.
The pattern includes a sewn swimming shorts, but because I am really disastrous with the sewing machine I have crocheted it. The shorts fit and stay in place. You can find the pattern below (only in Dutch as the pattern is available only in Dutch as well).
Now here are the materials I used: a crochet hook size 3mm and Phildar Phil Coton 3 in the colours:  Veronese (3 balls), Craie (1 ball), Cerise (1 ball) and scraps of black yarn. For the eyes I used a set of safety eyes 8mm. Again: invest in good eyes and preferably choose the eyes with the plastic washers and not the ones with the metal ring. The cheaper eyes (with plastic back) are very difficult to use, and both the cheap version with the metal ring as the ones with the plastic washers let go easily. I always order my eyes here.
Hopefully my tips will help you with making this cute frog. Happy crocheting!

Zwembroek
Begin met rood
1. Haak 60 lossen, 1 halve vaste in de eerste losse.
2. Haak 1 halve vaste. Haak in elke losse 1 vaste. Haak 1 halve vaste in de eerste vaste.
3. Haak 1 losse, haak 1 vaste in elke vaste, haak 1 halve vaste in de eerste vaste.
10. Haak 1 losse, haak rondom 1 vaste in elke steek.

I saw this frog on Pinterest some time ago, but the link to the pattern wasn't working. So that's when a pretty complicated search started. In the end I found the source and the pattern through a reversed image search. The frog is made with a pattern by Stoff & Sil (click here), where I found more cute patterns. It is an English (UK) website, so the crochet terms are in English too. This means you need the English crochet terms, and not the American. Below you will find the stitches and their abbreviations. Now you must be able to make this frog if you like. I used 3 balls of Phildar Phil Coton 3 in the color Golf and a crochet hook size 3mm. Also I used scraps of white yarn (Phildar Phil Coton 3 color Craie) and safety eyes size 8mm. For the scarf I used Phildar Phil Coton 3 color Melon. Happy crocheting!

Kikker & Eend

Some time ago somebody asked me if I had the crochet pattern of Kikker & Eend. I posted the question on Twitter and Esther immediately contacted me. She had the pattern on paper, it was published in the magazine Ouders van Nu soms time ago. The magazine gave me permission to post the pattern online. As the blog of Esther is no longer available, I've posted the articles below. In the meantime I made this frog myself (with crochet swimming shorts). If you want to read more about it, click here to read the blog post and to see a picture of my frog.

Opkikkertje

Because I got so many questions about the pattern of the frog jars I did a little research. The pattern is available (in Dutch only) on the blog of  Jacqueline. Click here to there. Have fun with this lovely pattern. I'm a fan of it!
p.s. the pattern was on Klaske's blog at first, but now that it is not available anymore on her blog, I've now linked to the blog of Jacqueline where the pattern is available as well.

I saw the picture of the bag below a few times on Pinterest already, and that's how I ended up in Vendula's Etsy-shop. Besides the pattern of the bag she has a lot more lovely patterns in her shop, like the pattern of the Frog Coaster that's on top of this post. Click here to go to her shop.
p.s. if you can't find the patterns in Vendula's shop they might be sold out. If so, you can send Vendula a message and ask her to 'relist' the pattern. Or just wait until she relists it because she probably will later today.

Monday Pattern Day: Frog Footstool!

Het patroon is geschreven in US terminologie.

If you love frogs you probably love this footstool. You can make him from Zpagetti. The Dutch pattern of the Frog Footstool was once on the website of the magazine OOK, but it has been removed unfortunately. I've translated the pattern into English some time ago (I got permission for that). You will find it below. The pattern is written in US terms.

What you need to make this footstool

Lots of green t-shirt yarn.
A little piece of black t-shirt yarn.
A little piece of red t-shirt yarn or fabric.
A crochet hook that's suitable for the t-shirt yarn.
Filling.

The top of the footstool
1. Make a magic ring.
2. Chain 2, 11 DC. Close the ring of DC with a SLST.
3. Now close the ring by pulling the thread that’s hanging loose in the middle.
4. 2DC in every stitch. (24)
5. Close the ring of DC with a SLST.
6. **1DC in the next stitch, 2DC in the next stitch.** Repeat around. (36)
7. Close the ring of DC with a SLST.
8. **1DC in the next stitch, 1DC in the next stitch, 2DC in the next stitch.** Repeat around.  (48)
9.  Close the ring of DC with a SLST.
10. **1DC in the next stitch, 1DC in the next stitch, 1DC in the next stitch, 2DC in the next  stitch.** Repeat around. (60)
11.Close the ring of DC with a SLST.
12. **1DC in the next stitch, 1DC in the next stitch, 1DC in the next stitch, 1DC in the next stitch, 2DC in the next stitch.** Repeat around. (72)
13. Close the ring of DC with a SLST.
14– 22. 72DC around. After every ring of DC, close with a SLST.
23. **5DC, DEC.** Repeat around. (60)
Fasten off.

The bottom
Repeat rows 1-10 of the top of the footstool (so until you've reached 60 stitches around).
Fasten off.

How to assemble

Fill the footstool with an old blanket for example. It’s best to cover it in a t-shirt (or another piece of fabric) that has the same colour as the t-shirt yarn.

Sew or crochet both halves together.

Legs (make 4)
  1. Chain 4. SC1 in second stitch from hook. SC1, SC1. (3)
  2. 2SC, 3SC in the next stitch, 2SC.
  3. 3SC, 3SC in the next stitch, 3SC.
  4. 4SC, 3SC in the next stitch, 4SC.
  5. 5SC, 3SC in the next stitch, 5SC.
  6. 6SC, 3SC in the next stitch, 6SC.
  7. 7SC, 3SC in the next stitch, 7SC.
  8. 8SC, 3SC in the next stitch, 8SC.
  9. Fasten off.
Place 1 leg on top of the other and SC around. If you like, you can fill the legs to make them a bit more solid. Now sew the legs to the bottom of the footstool.

Eyes (make 2)
1. Make a magic ring.
2. Chain 2, 11 DC. Close the ring of DC with a SLST.
3. Now close the ring by pulling the thread that’s hanging loose in the middle.
4. 2DC in every stitch. (24)
5. DEC by crocheting every two stitches together. (12)
Put filling in the eye and close it. Make eyeballs with black t-shirt yarn or fabric
and use red t-shirt yarn or fabric to make the mouth.

    The Swamp Years

Yesterday I wanted to make a frog. A frog that's not similar to all the frog patterns that are out there already. I tried a few things but it didn't work. It took me all day before I had an idea of what it had to be. When I woke up this morning all of a sudden I had to think of The Swamp Years, a move where Kermit the Frog is still a tiny frog and is living in the swamp. It's one of my favourite movies because actually everything is funny in this movie. Eventually my frog became a combination of the frogs and the toad that are in this movie. Down here you'll find the trailer of the movie just in case you're wondering what it looks like (-:
p.s. the pattern is available here.

    Kermit

Did I ever tell you that I love Kermit the Frog? Probably not, because it doesn't have to do much with crochet or knitting. But if you ask me, I think that it is incredibly difficult to crochet something of Kermit and make it look like the real one. But Miss Modular did the impossible according to me. Take a look at her Flickr-album, especially her Sesame Street Collection. She's also starting an Etsy-shop, so keep an eye on that one because there will be fabulous things in it soon.

    A crochet frog

Last night I followed a crochet workshop. During the workshop I could make a bag with Hoooked Zpagetti but as I already have many bags I decided to make a frog. It was my first ever crochet project and I'm pretty proud of it. The pattern is available for free here. The body of my frog is just a little shorter.
