New Phone Case

For tomorrow's workshop I made this crochet phone case. I think I might use it myself as well :-)

Monday Pattern Day: Acorns!

Some time ago I received an email of Catherine Janssens from Belgium telling me she thought I might like the ecological cotton from her webshop (update: the webshop has closed). Ze promised me to send me a sample, but instead I got a lovely ball of cotton of the brand BC Garn. I was (and still am) very happy with it because it is really lovely to work with. Thanks again Catherine! Below you will find the pattern of the acorns that I made with the cotton. I collected the caps of the acorns on the street :-)

Pattern (use yarn for crochet hook size 2.5mm)
1. SC6 in a magic ring. Go here for a tutorial of magic ring. (6)

2. Decrease every stitch. (12)
3. 12SC.
4. 12SC.
5. 12SC.
6. 12SC.
7. 12SC.
8. 12SC.
9. Decrease around. (6) Finish off.
If you want to hang this acorn on a string in a branch or a (Christmas)tree, don't forget to glue the acorn in the cap.

New pattern!

Where did summer go? Here in Holland we haven't had a lot of sunshine this year. It has been raining since (I think) the beginning of July and there were hardly any sunny days. So that's how I decided to design a real fall-project a bit early this year: a crochet toadstool-keychain. The pattern is available in my Etsy-shop.

Monday Pattern Day: Crochet Stones

During the Link Your Stuff from not this weekend but the one before I noticed the post from Sacha from the blog Sacha Loves To Knit. She posted a link to a pattern of crochet stones. Very pretty, so I decided to give it a try. This stone happened to ly around my house, but Sacha told me that you can buy stones at Het Kruidvat (a Dutch shop). But you can probably buy them in a garden centre as well. You can find the link to the pattern (Dutch and English!) in this blogpost.

About a holiday and a lovely shop

Because we are still enjoying our holiday, we decided to go to Zeeland yesterday for a nice bicycle ride. Early in the morning we took the train to Middelburg. Some time ago I've emailed with Jeanet from Atelier Jaffari in Arnemuiden, and because that's not far from Middelburg we decided to stop by for a surprise-visit. I was so curious to meet Jeanet and to see her shop. And I'm so glad I went there! Jeanet is such a lovely person, she has a wonderful shop and she welcomed us so warm-hearted. After a nice cup of coffee we had to get on our bicycles again, but I would have loved to stay a bit longer. So I'll definitely be going back. Jeanet has a very nice and active blog. Click here to go there. But you really should go to this website as well. This is where Jeanet and her husband sell the most gorgeous handmade costumes for kids!
p.s. I cannot believe I'm saying this, but after doing the tour on the map (which was about 65km/40 mile) we got off the train in Rotterdam and decided to cycle home from there. So we did at least 80km/50 mile yesterday!

Workshop in progress!

Workshop in progress! :-)

Hoera! :-)

Last Saturday it finally happened: the trial-workshop in the yarn shop of Francis in Delft! I'd really looked forward to it. Together with Francis I'd chosen two patterns we could try. So against 3 in the afternoon all the volunteers were there and we took off. I must say: it was even more fun than I thought it would be. The ladies were all so enthousiastic and they all tried very hard despite the fact that the patterns we chose were a bit too difficult. So for the "real" workshop we now chose a different/easier pattern.
I think everyone that attended this workshop (including myself) learnt a lot. I'm really looking forward to the workshops that will start in September. The first registrations are there already. Hurray! :-)

Monday Pattern Day: Crochet Jam Jar

♥ Click this link if you want to follow my blog with Bloglovin ♥

When I saw this blogpost I thought: I really should try that myself. So here's a pattern you can use for any jar. Just make sure you chain an even amount of stitches if your jar needs more or less than 30 chains. How do you know how many stitches you need? Just lay the chain of stitches around the jar to see if it fits. The chain may be a bit tight, but not too tight ofcourse. Just give it a try.

1. Chain 30
2. 30SC. Attach the last SC to the first SC with a slip stitch.
3. Chain 2 (this counts as 1DC). Make 1DC in the same SC as you made the chain 2 in. Chain 1, skip one SC, do 2DC in the next SC. Repeat around. Attach last chain to the top of the 2nd chain of the start of this row.
4. Chain 2 (this counts as 1DC), chain 2, 1DC in opening between the 22DC's of the previous row, chain 2, 1DC etc.
5. Repeat row 3.
6. Repeat row 4.
Etc.
When you reach the top of the jar, finish with 2 rows of SC's.

I'm not sure what a Japanese crochet flower is, and if they are different from other crochet flowers, but when you search google you find a lot of flowers like the one on the picture above. I designed this one myself and you can find the pattern below. I like the black/white-version most, but to show you the difference you can find a few versions with colours below. Would you like to make more flowers? Click here if you want to download my free Flower Pattern Ebook at LoveCrafts and check this page for more free patterns.

1. 4L (= 1L + 1ST)
2. 13ST in eerste losse.
- van kleur wisselen
3. HV in bovenkant van eerste 3L.
4. 1V, 2V in volgende. Herhaal tot je rond bent. (21V)
- van kleur wisselen
5. 21V.
6. HV in eerste van 21V.
7. 4L, 1V in volgende. Herhaal tot je rond bent, dan afhechten.

1. Chain 4 (counts as 1 chain and 1DC)
2. 13DC in first chain.
- change color here
3. 1SLST on top of the first DC
4. 1SC, 2SC in next stitch. Repeat all the way round. (21)
- change color here
5. 21SC.
6. 1SLST in the first SC.
7. Chain 4, 1SC in next stitch, Repeat all the way round. Finish off.

What to do with garlands...

Sometimes I wonder what people do with the garlands they order at my Etsy-shop. That's why I was really enthusiastic to receive a message from Stephanie. She enclosed a beautiful picture of her bedroom. She collected some gorgeous things for her "Love Wall" and as you can see one of my hearts garlands is hanging on the headbord of the bed. Click here for more pictures of the "Love Wall".

More potholders!

For those of you that don't want to work with colour: potholders in black-white can be pretty nice too (-:
