Het was denk ik zo'n anderhalf jaar geleden dat ik een idee had voor een haakboek. Ik had al een tijdje contact met Tirion Creatief (die soms de book giveaways op mijn blog sponsoren) en besloot de stoute schoenen aan te trekken en ze te mailen. Ik kreeg al gauw een reactie. Of ik langs wilde komen om te praten. Natuurlijk! Ik had een heel leuk gesprek en ging met een hoofd vol ideeen naar huis. Maar eenmaal thuis overviel het me. Ik zat om verschillende redenen in een hectische tijd, en om een lang verhaal kort te maken: ik wist niet hoe ik het allemaal moest gaan doen. Ik had gedacht dat deze kans en dit idee me nieuwe energie zou geven, maar dat bleek niet zo te zijn. Hoe moest ik een boek maken als ik zo weinig energie had voor zelfs de gewone dingen?
Voor dit boek had ik een lijst met bloggers samengesteld waarmee ik wilde samenwerken. Een daarvan was Maaike. Ik kende
Maaike van Crejjtion al een hele tijd. Ik was (en ben) groot fan van haar blog en alles wat ze maakt. Ik besloot haar een mailtje te sturen, want inmiddels was ik tot de conclusie gekomen dat ik dit boek niet kon en wilde maken. En ik wilde deze kans graag doorgeven aan iemand anders. Ik heb zelf een aantal hele mooie stappen gezet in mijn leven dankzij andere mensen, en waar mogelijk probeer ik hetzelfde te doen en andere mensen te helpen. Ik wist dat Maaike graag meer uit Crejjtion wilde halen, dus zij was voor mij de aangewezen persoon om het stokje over te nemen.
Maar het was wel spannend, want wilde Maaike wel? Ze zat middenin haar verhuizing van Canada naar Nederland, dus dit was niet bepaald het ideale moment. En wat zou de uitgever doen als ik ineens iemand anders meenam? Maaike was gelukkig heel erg enthousiast, en uiteindelijk kwam het tot een afspraak bij de uitgever. Maaike en ik vonden het allebei reuze spannend. Wat als het niet zou lukken? Als de uitgever het maar gek zou vinden dat ik iemand anders naar voren schoof en het hele project af zou blazen? Maar ze hadden al een beetje rondgeneusd op Maaike's blog en net als ik waren ze superenthousiast. Het besluit werd genomen: Maaike ging het boek maken. In de loop van de tijd is het idee wat ik had losgelaten, en heeft Maaike er haar eigen boek van gemaakt. En gelukkig maar! Het is prachtig geworden. Mooie en leuke haakprojecten, allemaal met als uitgangspunt dat er gebruik wordt gemaakt van puur natuurlijk materiaal. De projecten die in het boek staan zijn heel afwisselend. Er zitten grote projecten in en kleine, maar mijn favoriet is denk ik toch wel de zomersjaal. Of toch de eiermutsjes? Ik zou zeggen, blader eens door het boek in de boekwinkel. Ik weet zeker dat je meteen een exemplaar wilt hebben. Is het niet voor de prachtige haakprojecten, dan is het wel vanwege de supermooie vormgeving. Maaike, gefeliciteerd met dit prachtige boek! Ik was destijds al heel blij dat je het stokje van me overnam, en nu ik zie wat je er van gemaakt hebt ben ik nog blijer. Ik wens je heel veel succes met alles wat komen gaat!

I think it was about one and a half year ago when I had an idea for a crochet book. For some time, I was in touch with book pubisher Tirion Creatief (they sometimes sponsor the book giveaways on my blog) and I decided to take the plunge and email them. Pretty soon they contacted me and asked if I wanted to come over to talk about it. Of course! I went over to their office and we had a very nice conversation. I went home with a head full of ideas. But once I was home, somehow I was totally overwhelmed. For various reasons I was in a hectic period of my life, and to cut a long story short: I did not know how to manage it all. I thought this idea and this book would give me new energy, but that didn't happen. How was I supposed to write a book when I lacked even the energy for just normal things?
For this book idea I had made a list of bloggers that I wanted to work with. One of them was Maaike. I had known Maaike from her blog Crejjtion for some time now. I was (and still am) a big fan of her blog and everything she does. I decided to send her an email because I had come to the conclusion that I could not write this book. And I really wanted to pass on this opportunity to someone else. I've had some great opportunities in my life, thanks to other people that were willing to give me a hand, so whereever I can I try to do the same. I knew that Maaike wanted to make more out of Crejjtion, so to me she was the right person to take over this project
It was pretty exciting, because what would Maaike say? She was in the middle of her move from Canada to The Netherlands so this wasn't at all the right time. And what would the publisher do if I suddenly brought someone else with me? Luckily, Maaike was very excited and I made a new appointment with the book publisher. Maaike and I were both very excited but a bit scared as well. What if it would not work? What if the publisher wasn't happy that I brought in someone else and decided to call the whole thing off? But they had done a little research and just like me they were super excited. The decision was clear: Maaike was going to make the book. Over time, the idea that I had faded away, and Maaike made her own book of it. And fortunately! It came out beautifully. Lovely and cute crochet projects, all made with pure natural materials. The projects in this book are very diverse. There are large and small projects, but my favorite is the summer scarf. Or the egg hats? I would say, browse through the book in the bookstore. I'm sure you want a copy. If it is not for the beautiful crochet projects, then it is because of the wonderful designs. Maaike, congratulations on this wonderful book! I was very happy at the time that you took over this huge project, and now I see what you have made of it, I am even happier. All the best with everything that's about to happen!
