Book Giveaway!

Ik heb inmiddels een vrij grote voorraad haak-, brei- en naaiboeken, en omdat mijn kast begint uit te puilen heb ik besloten een boek weg te geven. Dit keer is het een Engelstalig boek, en ik denk dat er wel ergens een haakster of breister rondloopt die dit boek graag wil hebben: 75 Birds, butterflies & beautiful beasties to knit & crochet van Lesley Stanfield. Going on a Crochet Safari?

Nog geen vakantieplannen deze zomer? En toe aan een hele speciale vakantie? Dan heb ik een tip voor je. KnitAGogo organiseert in oktober 2012 een haaksafari naar Marokko. Op de flyer hierboven zie je wat er allemaal op het programma staat, wat de kosten zijn en wie je moet mailen als je meer info wilt. Ga jij heen? Laat het me dan weten, ik zou heel graag een reisverslag van een van de deelnemers op mijn blog willen plaatsen.

Crochet Edging

Ook zo weg van die gehaakte randjes die je zo nu en dan op Pinterest langs ziet komen? Ik ontmoette onlang Jorine van Ma-ak en zij heeft een speciale haaknaald laten ontwerpen waarmee je die randjes nog makkelijker haakt. De bovenkant van deze haaknaald heeft bovenaan namelijk een scherpe punt. Ik mocht zo'n haaknaald uitproberen en hierboven zie je het resultaat. De haaknaald zat in een hele mooie verpakking en er zat een gratis patroontje bij. Superleuk dus! Omdat ik (nog steeds) midden in een verhuizing zit had ik niet veel spulletjes bij de hand, dus wat je hierboven ziet is een hele sjieke vaatdoek :-) Het werken met deze naald ging heel erg makkelijk, alhoewel ik natuurlijk wel een vrij dunne stof had. Wil je echt door stevig materiaal gaan, dan zul je wel wat meer kracht moeten gebruiken of een priem waarmee je de stof/gaatjes vast een beetje voorbewerkt. Maar alles bij elkaar ben ik er positief over!
Wil je ook zo'n haaknaald of zoek je mooie katoen, een leuk haakboek of een mooi patroon? Kijk dan even in de webshop van Jorine: Ma-ak! Update: helaas bestaat de webwinkel van Jorine niet meer. In deze webwinkel heb ik de naald nog wel aangetroffen.

Patroon gehaakt randje (gemaakt met Phildar Coton 3)

1. Haak om de cm een vaste in de stof. Haak tussen elke vaste drie losse, of zoveel losse als nodig zijn om een rechte ketting van lossen te krijgen tussen de vasten. De ketting van lossen mag dus niet heel erg losjes tussen de vasten zitten. Doe dit totdat je helemaal rond bent (of zover als je wilt).
2. Haak rondom het boogje van de drie losse: een vaste, een half stokje, een stokje, een half stokje en een vaste.

Do you also love the crochet edging that you see every now and then on Pinterest for instance? Just recently I met Jorine of Ma-ak and she had a crochet hook designed that you can very easily use for this edging. That's because the top of this hook has a sharp point. I got the opportunity to try a crochet hook like that and you can see the result above. The crochet hook came in a really lovely wrapping and there was a free pattern in the package. Very nice! Because I'm (still) in the middle of moving houses I didn't have a lot of stuff at hand, so what you see above here is a very chique dishcloth :-) Working with this crochet hook went very easy, but ofcourse part of the reason was that I used thin fabric. If you want to go through thick material , you will have to use a bit of force or a tool to make tiny holes with at first. But, overall I'm pretty positive about this crochet hook!

(Jorine does ship internationally.) Update: unfortunately the webshop of Jorine doesn't exist anymore. I found a similar crochet hook here in this webshop.

Pattern crochet edging (made with Phildar Coton 3)

1. Make a SC and leave 1cm between every stitch. Make 3 chain stitches between every SC or as much chains as you need to get a straight line from one SC to the next. Make sure the chain isn't hanging loose between the SC. Repeat this until you've gone round (or as far as you like).
2. Around every bow of chains: make 1SC, 1HDC, 1DC, 1HDC, 1SC.

Crochet Flowers

Gehaakte bloemen zullen altijd een van mijn favoriete haakprojecten blijven. Ik vond dit patroon op de blog van Puppeles Buntland. Het patroon is in het Duits, maar de foto's zijn heel duidelijk. Crochet flowers will always be one of my favourite crochet projects. I found this pattern on the blog of Puppeles Buntland. The pattern is in German, but the pictures are very clear. FM = feste masche = vaste = single crochet
HS = halbes stäbchen = half stokje = half double crochet
GS = ganzes stäbchen = stokje = double crochet
DS = doppeltes stäbchen = dubbel stokje = trebble crochet
LM = luftmasche = losse = chain stitch
KM = kettmasche = halve vaste = slip stitch
