Winks Mandala

Yesterday I read the very sad news that Marinke, that many of us know as Wink from the blog A Creative Being, decided to take her own life after suffering a severe depression. I am still speachless. I posted the text below on facebook yesterday. On facebook, twitter and instagram many people are posting mandalas, using the hashtag #mandalasforwink or #mandalasformarinke. For those of you that participate at Link Your Stuff, I'd like to invite you to share your mandalas on this Saturday's Link Your Stuff as a way to remember Marinke who meant so much for many people.
p.s. a gorgeous book that was made after Marinke's passed away is available here.

Text from my facebook:
I just read the very sad news that Wink from the lovely blog A Creative Being is no longer with us. She was such an inspiring and creative person, she will be missed by many crocheters that loved to read her blog. I was so proud to be part of one of the gorgeous books she made. It wasn't long ago that she send me an email about it. I cannot believe she is no longer here. I wish all of her friends and family all the strenght they need to cope with this devastating loss.

Chaos

My days are pretty chaotic right now. I'm really hard trying to finish the last weeks of my study (or well, the first year that is) and in the meantime I'm trying to do my job properly and I'm trying to do some fun things every now and then. Well, to be honest: I don't have time for fun things at the moment. I really lack the time. At the same time I'm pretty relieved that the year is almost over. It was pretty hard: studying (law) and work (fulltime) at the same time. I know a lot of people who did the same thing, but at the end ofcourse it's harder then what you expected. What I found very hard is that I had to say no to so many fun things. And that makes you wonder: is this what I want? And after many (almost) sleepless nights the answer is: no... there are so many things that I'd rather do then this. And ofcourse I am aware of the fact that studying is much more important then crocheting, but despite that: I decided to quit studying. I already have a lovely job, and what I do after work is very important for me as well. So I don't want to stop all these things for the next four years. So I have to struggle myself through the last three weeks, and then I'm done. I'm really looking forward to it. It's been a very interesting experience to go to university, and I've learned a lot but this is it for me. I'm back to blogging and crocheting, and I promise you there are a few really lovely blogposts coming up. So I hope you are all still there :-) I hope to see/talk to you soon!

Pink Sheep

Actually it is very weird that I never crocheted an amigurumi by Tessa van Riet (her website it here). They are so cute! Tessa has been crocheting for ages, and just recently she blogged about how she designed this sheep. It's so much fun to read because I've seen her sheep so often, I never knew this story was behind it. I crocheted this sheep with Lammy Hawai. It's a very soft yarn. I used a crochet hook size 5mm. I think the yarn tells you to use a bigger crochet ook, but with this hook you will get a really compact sheep. This sheep is on it's way to Belgium to find a new owner. I hope the person that receives it will be happy with it.
