To London!

Vandaag vlieg ik naar London want morgen en zaterdag ga ik workshops geven op de Knitting & Stitching Show. Een geweldig leuke beurs met enorm veel standhouders met heel veel hobbymaterialen. De eerste show die ik vorig jaar bezocht was in Alexandra Palace, London. De tweede show was in Dublin, en daar ben ik toen samen met Loes van Freubelweb naar toe geweest. Dat was ook zo ontzettend leuk! Ik vind het altijd erg leuk om workshops te geven, en dat het dan ook nog in zo'n prachtige stad is, dat heeft toch wel iets extra's. Bij het pakken van mijn tas besloot er iemand ook maar even in de koffer te kruipen. :-)  Maar ik laat haar toch maar thuis waar goed voor haar gezorgd gaat worden.

Today I fly to London because tomorrow and Saturday I will give workshops at the Knitting & Stitching Show. It's a great craft fair with lots of exhibitors of hobby materials. When packing my bag someone decided to crawl into the suitcase. :-)  But I leave her at home where she will be well taken care of.

Crochet Star and Moon Pillow Set

Ik probeerde al eerder een maan te haken, maar ik had niet gedacht dat dat nog best wel eens ingewikkeld kon zijn. Ik bleef het maar proberen totdat ik eindelijk de juiste vorm te pakken had. En dit weekend heb ik 'm afgemaakt. De ster haakte ik al veel eerder, en omdat ze zo goed bij elkaar passen krijg je nu het patroon van de ster meegestuurd als je het patroon van de maan aanschaft. Je vindt deze patroontjes hier in mijn Etsy-winkel of hier bij LoveCrochet, maar let op: deze set is alleen in het Engels (US terms) beschikbaar. Ik maakte deze kussens met Paintbox Yarns (Simply Chunky en Cotton Aran). Als ze klaar zijn zijn ze allebei 35cm hoog/breed. Een fijne maandag gewenst!

I tried to make a moon some time ago, but I didn't expect it to be so difficult. I kept trying until it had the right shape and size and this weekend I was able to finish it. The star is a pattern that I designed some time ago, and because they match so well you'll receive the pattern of the star when you purchase the pattern of the moon. The pattern is available in English (US terms) here on Etsy and here at LoveCrochet. I made these pillows with Paintbox Yarns (Simply Chunky and Cotton Aran). Once finished they have the same size: they are both 35cm wide/high. Have a happy Monday!

Daisy Flower Pillow

Met dit hele mooie weer heb ik alleen maar zin om hele fleurige en vrolijke projecten te maken. Nu ben ik volop bezig met het afmaken van een deken, maar ik heb natuurlijk nog de vrolijke kussens hier liggen die ik maakte voor mijn laatste boek. Dit is het Daisy Flower Pillow en ik word nog altijd heel erg vrolijk als ik naar dit kussen kijk. Zoals gezegd vind je het patroon in mijn boek Crochet in the City. Het boek is in het Nederlands én het Engels geschreven (in één uitgave dus) en je kunt het onder meer hier bestellen.
Ben jij al bezig met het haken van Lente-patroontjes? Zodra ik mijn deken af heb begin ik aan iets nieuws en het gaat zeker roze worden want dat is mijn favoriete kleur voor de lente.

With this gorgeous weather I'm so in to making happy floral projects. At the moment I'm working really hard to finish a blanket, but of course I have the pillows here that I made for my last book. This is the Daisy Flower Pillow and this pillow makes me so happy. As said you can find the pattern in my book Crochet in the City. New Ripple Blanket

Ik ben begonnen aan een nieuwe deken, en alhoewel ik het altijd heel fijn vindt om met heel veel kleurtjes te werken is het halverwege ook altijd even slikken als ik zie hoeveel draden ik weg moet werken als ik eenmaal klaar ben. Maar ook dat gaat wel weer lukken, want ik weet dat ik er altijd erg naar uit kijk om de deken af te maken als het einde in zicht is.
Deze deken heet trouwens de Ripple Blanket en ik haakte deze deken een tijd geleden ook al. Je kunt de link naar het patroon vinden in dit blogbericht. Inmiddels ben ik aan de rand begonnen dus het schiet al aardig op. Ik haak de deken van restjes Drops Paris en een haaknaald 5mm. Een mooi alternatief voor dit garen is Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran.
Het haken met een 5mm haaknaald is trouwens wel even wennen nu ik heel lang met een haaknaald 3mm heb gewerkt. Het fijne is dat het heel snel gaat dus de deken is gelukkig af voordat het lente wordt.

I started working on a new blanket, and even though I love to work with many colors I'm also a bit terrified when I look at all these yarn ends that I need to fasten off one day. But I'm sure I'll manage that in a short period of time because I know that the closer I get to the end, the more I look forward to getting this blanket finished.
This blanket is called the Ripple Blanket. I made this blanket before, you can find the link to the pattern in this blog post. I'm already working on the edging so it's going pretty fast. I'm using Drops Paris cotton and a crochet hook size 5mm. A great alternative yarn is Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran.
Working with a size 5mm is a bit different then the 3mm hook I've used for a long time now. I love how quickly this blanket is growing, and it is also good to know that it will be finished before it's Spring.

Pattern giveaway

Ik word altijd superblij als ik nieuwe designers ontdek die overduidelijk talent hebben. In dit geval is die designer Tommy van Snips & Stitches, ik kwam hem tegen op Instagram. I'm always super excited when I stumble across a talented new designer. In this case I'm talking about Tommy of Snips & Stitches, who I met on Instagram.
